I often said that executing events is not scientific, but I've realized that it is. There is a formula for successful events - it is the formula of detailed planning. The specific steps may vary but I can guarantee that if you don't have a detailed plan for your event, it will fail. There are far too many "balls" in the air to risk missing one by flying by the seat of your pants.
But event planning IS a science. Ironically, standard event templates have never been established for the industry (with the exception of the complicated BEO used by venues, but we know there is more required for a successful event than a venue form!).
By having no standard event templates, our industry fails to receive the respect and kudos it deserves. I believe that events may be seen by many as a random feat! By establishing standardized templates, event planners can concentrate on what is most important - creating memorable and unique experiences that yield favorable and measurable results!
