EVENT POST MORTEM TEMPLATE
Just watch CSI or Law & Order to see the importance of a post mortem. You can solve a murder case based the information you get from it!
Post mortems for events work in a similar way. Every post-event summary you complete will serve as a precedent for future similar and not so similar events. You can review costs, dates/location, re-use themes, etc.
The post mortem should be a comprehensive, catch-all document that details and highlights every element of the event such as the basics (date, venue, # of people, type of event, event objective) to the finite details including audience satisfaction, verbatim comments, budget, creative components & samples and agenda.
Your post mortem should also include a very candid look at what worked and what didn't. As we often say, "If you can't find 5 things wrong with your event you are not looking hard enough". As well, you need to highlight your successes. These comments will help you continually improve your event 'prowess'.
